Normet has launched the Scamec LC 065 A scaling machine that can offer safety, visibility and productivity for underground operations.
The new 065 A, based on same carrier design as the company’s two other Scamec models and has the most compact boom, optimized for 4×4 m to 6×6 m tunnels. With an optional narrower dozer plate and a shorter end module, the agility can be improved further, enabling even smoother maneuvering in confined headings.
Designed with safety as the first priority
Scaling is one of the most dangerous and challenging underground mining processes and, to mitigate the risks, the Scamec LC 065 A incorporates multiple protective safety features. An enclosed FOPS- and ROPS-certified cabin features a 22-mm multilayer windscreen with a protective grill and offers low noise levels.
An optional camera systems provide enhanced situational awareness around the machine, and optional dust suppression system helps maintain visibility and air quality during operation. An optional emergency escape function provides rapid evacuation capability, and a fire suppression system enhances operational safety even further. The articulated boom is shielded with rock cover that guide falling material away from the cabin, significantly reducing operator exposure.
Also, the adjustable operator seat includes ergonomic armrests and breaker operation via foot pedal, allowing better focus on boom control. The cabin’s ability to lift 750 mm and tilt 25 degrees improves visibility and ergonomics, especially during roof scaling. The in-house-developed control system provides intuitive machine operation, data logging, diagnostics and process monitoring through a touch display, helping operators maintain clarity and productivity throughout their shift.
